25% of refugees are single and others are families. They are all aged over 18 and the majority are 25 to 40. The Gateshead Council helps these people find accommodations during their homeless period and offers other services, as well.
Refugees hail from different countries such as Iraq, Iran, Eritrea and the DR of Congo. However, this changes constantly. Once the asylum seekers become refugees, they turn to the Council for help. None of them were evicted, there were no reports of anti-social behavior and they were found to be excellent tenants.
